iPhone 6 Overview: the lowdown on Apple’s latest devices
October 31, 2014
On September 19, the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus were officially released. Tim cook, Apple CEO, and his team finalized a product that everybody would love. Bigger is better right? Well apple has done exactly what everybody wanted. The new iPhone 6 is 4.7 inches long. The new iPhone 6 Plus comes in at an astonishing 5.5 inches long. “The extra size is better for my hands because I have big hands. That’s the reason I upgraded,” said Ali Sammour, junior and iPhone 6 user. Apple totally redesigned the body to make it feel less awkward in the hand. The iPhone 6 has curved, elegant edges, and a thickness of only 6.9 mm. The iPhone 6 Plus is a bigger version of the regular 6, with slightly thicker body of 7.1 mm.
Tech guys will love the new iPhone for its new and improved processor. “Upgrading from the A7 chip in the iPhone 5 to the A8 chip was a huge feature for me,” saids Ali Sammour. Gamers will love the A8 chip because it processes games without lag. With a bigger screen, you’ll want a better resolution for your images, right? Well Apple not only increased the screen size, but also increased the resolution on both new models. The iPhone 6 offers a resolution of 1334×640 while the 6 Plus comes in at an astonishing 1920×1080. Most critics wouldn’t want to take there eyes off that display.
Photographers would love the new camera because of its new optical image stabilization. The new optical image stabilization feature allows shaky images to look more clear. Both iPhones still have an eight megapixel camera but that is the typical specification for any new device on the market today. Go ahead and get one yourself. On a two-year contract the iPhone 6 starts at $199 for the 16GB model, then it’s $299 for 64GB and $399 for 128GB of storage.
Pros:
Larger screen
Faster processing speed
Rounded, less square-shaped like previous iPhones
IOS 8
Power button on side
Cons:
One-sided speaker
Phone “bends”
Most critics have noted that the iPhone 6 looks awesome. Ali Sammour said he is glad about the upgrade and would never switch back to anything else. He did discover a few cons, but it’s normal for phones to have flaws. Ali found out that the new iPhones could literally bend in your pocket. The reason for this is because of the thin piece of metal that is too thin to withstand average forces of pressure. Apple did this to make the phone lighter, so they had to sacrifice some durability. That might be the only flaw of the iPhone, but a case could easily fix that flaw. After 7 years of innovation, Apple has done it again. I can tell that it will be a very popular and well received phone. Well done Apple!
I CAN give the new iPhone the SSESGauntlet stamp of approval
