This summer, Head of College Counseling Mrs. Trisha Hasbrouck took it upon herself to give the faculty lounge a much-needed makeover.
Hasbrouck, along with others from College Counseling, found the extra funding and time to refurbish what many saw as a drab teacher’s lounge.
Not only did Hasbrouck personally select the brand-new furniture, she assembled it as well with the help of other faculty. For her, making the both the faculty lounge and Senior Nest unique was the top priority.
“I wanted them to be distinct spaces,” Hasbrouck said.
She added that the feedback has been positive all around.
Staff and faculty alike described the new space as “comfortable” and “inviting,” including Director of Admissions Mrs. Chi Klien
“It is a good place for collaboration,” Klein said.
Theatre teacher Jeannine Elisha, praised the Hasbrouck and College Counseling’s effort, complimenting the “cheerful” atmosphere created by the renovations.
Common compliments about the new space focused a lot on the choice of plush chairs, along with the blend of neutral and warm colors that create a visual appeal.
These welcome changes are a stark contrast to the previous design of the Faculty Lounge. With old cupboards, creaky appliances, and plastic chairs, the teacher’s previous space resembled a classroom more than a private environment for teachers.
This, of course, couldn’t do, and now the space is akin to a luxe conference room, with plenty of space to work, eat, and convene with others.
Overall, it is clear how popular these renovations are, and they open the door for future creativity with student and faculty spaces alike. This impressive transformation in a few months’ time gives precedence for retouching other lackluster areas around the school.
