On Wednesday March 19, Saint Stephen’s welcomed the arrival of visitors from our sister school, the Eisbjerghus Internationale Efterskole, in Denmark.
This is the 3rd year of the global exchange between the two schools. Similar to the Argentina exchange from a few months ago, students visited Denmark earlier this year, and will now host an assigned Danish visitor here in Florida.
Grace Gerling is a Sophomore who participated in the exchange trip to Denmark this year. She is hosting Karoline Adel Mollerup. Gerling said she had a fun time going to Denmark and is hoping to give her exchange student the same experience.
“I signed up for the Denmark trip because I wanted to make new friends and I really love studying global cultures,” Gerling said.
“I think it’s important to do student exchange programs to experience other people’s lives and see how our school is different from others,”Gerling added. “It can make you appreciate what our school offers and is just really eye opening.”
Karoline Adel Mollerup is one of the Danish students, and she’s most excited to see the beaches and go swimming.
“I signed up to come to America because I really wanted to experience something I didn’t know,” Mollerup said.
“While America is very different from Denmark I would say that the students here at Saint Stephen’s are very alike to my friends back home and we are all pretty similar,” she added.
The Danish students will be here until March 26th. For anyone interested in partaking in a future exchange trip, contact Ms. Hambrick for more information about upcoming exchanges that will be offered next year.
