Beginning last week, four of Falcon actors kicked off their production of Hadestown, which will runs until next weekend at the Ovation Theater School of the Arts in Bradenton.
The rendition has gotten rave reviews thus far and was featured on ABC 7’s My Suncoast, where Sawyer Girgis was interviewed about his role as the lead, Orpheus. The other performers include sophomores Carter Hasbrouck and Morgan Kessler and freshman Hailey Wahlmann.
Hadestown the show is a musical retelling of the Greek Myth of Orpheus and Eurydice who fall in love. However, King Hades tests their love in this iteration in a post-apocalyptic, industrial underworld. The lovers encounter many hardships in the underworld, with their only hope being Orpheus’s divine musical ability.
Sophomore Carter Hasbrouck plays King Hades in the production and became interested in the show because of the mature themes.
“What grabbed my attention was how mature the show was,” Hasbrouck said. “I found it very intriguing to play a character with so many parts to it and to be in a show with so much symbolism. It’s definitely not your typical teen musical”
There are two showings left, Friday, April 18, and Saturday, April 19, so make sure you get your tickets while they’re still available.
