The Student-Faculty Basketball Game
The annual basketball game between teachers and students is this Thursday, and it should be one for the books. The faculty is unbeaten in recent memory and this year’s students look to change that.

The student-faculty basketball game between teachers and students is one of those traditions at Saint Stephen’s that has always been a fan favorite.
On Thursday of every Homecoming week, a legendary game on the court takes place. The game starts with a tip-off like all normal basketball games, but that is where the similarities end.
For years and years without end, Dr. Pullen and her basketball skills start the game with a score for the faculty. No student has ever been able to stop her. The only time someone tried, Trevor Mulqueen put his hands up to contest the shot, but Dr. Pullen’s intimidation overpowered his defensive effort.
It’s been several years since students have been able to get a win over their scholarly superiors, however, the students will not just roll over this year. The team is being coached by senior class president, Noah LaBelle; senior class secretary; Zoey Block, and senior co-president of the Spirit Club, Ben Tobio.
Also, four seniors on the varsity boys basketball team will be participating, along with the only two senior girls from the varsity girls basketball program.
When asked about his preparation for the big game, Coach Ruemenapp, faculty coach, said, “All I’m doing is finding teachers that can play ball and asking them to play.” The varsity boys basketball coach seems fairly confident coming off consecutive wins for the faculty.
Student, coach Ben Tobio said, “Unlike previous coaches, my primary goal is winning this game. I’m competitive, I want to win. Also, I want to give the students, especially the seniors, a fun, memorable time.”
On Thursday, October 18th at the Hoagland Arena, the game will commence. Be there to find out who will be victorious in this year’s bout.
