There’s a pile of summer homework to turn in; an array of friends to catch up with; and a list of extracurriculars ready to be tackled. The beginning of the year is a hectic time for Saint Stephen’s students. On top of that, some students take on the extra responsibility of running for class office.

This past week, candidates nominated themselves for positions and each class elected their president, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary. The results are in, the officers are:

12th Grade

President- Griffin Donnelly

Vice President- Jenna Turner

Treasurer- Faith Rodriguez

Secretary- Dylan Patterson

11th Grade

President- Nupur Mathur

Vice President- Reagan Sullivan

Treasurer- Ali Sammour

Secretary- Christel Gharby

10th Grade

President- Miranda Carrassi

Vice President- Julia Woodson

Treasurer- Beatrice Brunschwiler

Secretary- Henry Wallace

9th Grade

President- Emily Tobias

Vice President- Katie Pierce

Treasurer- Emma King

The competition for the class officer position was heated, as many students fought for a spot to represent their class. In the Tenth Grade alone, four students ran for the presidential seat. However the time was limited for campaigning and the Tenth grade Lead Advisor, Mrs. O’Neil, said, she wished there was more time between nomination and voting so students running for positions could get out there and campaign.

This year’s elections are over, but there’s always next year. If you are considering contending for a place on your class executive committee, Nupur Mathur, Eleventh grade Presidents stated, ” the best method for campaigning is social media.”
