Falcon Friends: reusable water bottles take over at Saint Stephen’s

The first Falcon Friend event was one small step for a school and one giant leap for the planet. The event took place Friday, September 12th. Middle and Upper School students, along with their Lower and Intermediate School friends, focused on the importance of the 3 Rs: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. The walkways from the Campus Center to the Lower School Playground were filled with the hundreds of bottles that Saint Stephen’s students have recycled since the beginning of the school year. While recycling is important to the sustainability of the earth, reducing our overall consumption of resources is equally important. This Falcon Friend Event focused on utilizing reusable water bottles instead of plastic disposable bottles and reducing the waste of plastic, one division at a time. Members of the Saint Stephen’s Parents’ Association handed out reusable water bottles during the Falcon Friend event. All divisions are integrating the green initiative into their daily routine. The Upper School joined the initiative to control their waste by trying to eliminate the presence of the plastic water bottles in the buildings and switch to the reusable water bottles handed out to every Saint Stephen’s student.
