Fridays Theme: Across All Time
Yesterday left much of the Saint Stephen’s community feeling nostalgic, as it was the last day of Homecoming Week 2017. While some students may be sad because it is over, others know that there is much more to come. Friday began with an all school pep-rally, in the Hoagland Arena. During this pep-rally, the four classes presented their floats, cheers, and banners. After all of the floats and cheers had been presented, the Seniors came away with a win in both of the events.
As the classes presented their float and cheers, behind them were four banners designed by each of the classes. Judges evaluated each of the banners the day before to decide which of the four was the best. It was announced that the Senior had also won the banner competition, giving them a total of 3 victories throughout the day.
Student Counsel President, Hayes Chatham, stood at the podium to announce spirit point totals at the end of this exciting week. It was announced that the Senior class had finished with the most points, giving them the Spirit Week victory. In a surprising turn of events, the Freshman class finished in second place, with the Juniors and Sophomores finishing in that order behind them.
Friday’s events had not finished as the Homecoming football game was still to come. The Falcons had a commanding 53-6 victory over Gateway Charter. At halftime, this year’s Homecoming Court was announced. Four boys and four girls from the senior class were selected to represent the grade. The four girls were: Merry Moore, Katie Pierce, Logan Reliford, and Kristina Schmidt. The four boys were: Fred Billy, Henry Howell, Vaughn Hayes, and Luke Valadie.
At the end of this exciting week, it will certainly be one for the ages. It had many laughs and friendly competitions, while also bringing the Saint Stephen’s community much closer together.
