Coming this January: New school lunch and Winter (In)formal. Here are the logistics.
Metz Culinary Management’s food and Winter (In)formal add to our January, making it an exciting month for Saint Stephen’s students.
January 11, 2018
This January, the Falcons are ready for two huge additions: the unveiling of the highly anticipated Winter (In)formal party, and the big changes to our lunch program (Metz Culinary Management is set to bring their new menu items January 20th!).
As of now, January 2oth is the set date for the new food to hit the lunch loggia. Metz Culinary Management will prepare some of the food daily, on site. Other items will be delivered. The company has been rated in the top 20 for food management companies in the country. To avoid repetitiveness of food choice, Metz Culinary rotates what’s served every day for the entire month, adding a lot of variety to our lunches.
It’s important to clarify that Metz Culinary Management will not be replacing our current food, but rather serving as another option to what is currently offered. Having these new foods in addition to our current vendor’s meals will allow students to eat the fast food as an occasional treat, rather than the only entree, giving students more control of what they put into their body. See The Gauntlet’s previous article on the menu in the link to the left.
And now for the big news… Winter (In)formal is to take place on January 27th, disrupting the recent years’ poor reviews on the Winter Formal. This year, Student Council has decided to reform the dance to draw in more students, even those who don’t usually like dances.
Students should anticipate changes in areas of attire, music, payment method, and the addition of games during the dance.
The attire for the dance will fit the name informal. At the dance, the dress code will be dinner casual. In other words, something you’d wear to a birthday party at a restaurant… Casual, but nice.
As far as music goes, this dance will be DJ’d by seniors Ben Whorf and Rishab Ramamurthy. According to the DJ’s, this year the music “will be like no other dance music in Saint Stephen’s history.” Their Spotify playlist consists of music they carefully selected in hopes to avoid past music problems of former dances.
In terms of payment, the student council decided on a method that is both interesting and inexpensive. When buying your ticket you will be asked to role two die, the sum of which being how much you’ll pay. With a maximum of 12 dollars, and a minimum of 2 dollars, Winter (In)formal is able to cut the payment drastically, making it affordable for everyone.
In terms of activities, there will be a bunch of “yard games” on the second floor of the gym. The games, such as life-size jenga, corn hole, spike ball, and a photo booth station, are certain to spice up the dance, giving it an interesting twist.
Both Winter (In)formal and the Metz Culinary Management caterers will give color to our January at Saint Stephen’s. The up and coming events are surely something to look forward to, so be excited for their arrivals!
