Varsity soccer coach shaves head at Fall Sports Awards

Hailey Spolarich and Oliver Leclezio

On Monday, students from 6th to 12th grade gathered in the Hoagland Arena for the Fall Sports Awards ceremony, where coaches and players share the ups and downs of their seasons.

This year’s ceremony featured a gem of an ending.  Coach Paoletti announced that there was a “special surprise.”  Girls varsity soccer coach Guy Virgilio then walked out onto the gym floor, to the surprise of many, and took a seat in the center.

Coach Paoletti announced that Virgilio had promised the girls soccer team that if they beat Manatee High, he would shave his head.  And shave his head they did!  Beating Manatee is a very difficult endeavor, and the girls got their reward.  Take a look at Monday’s gallery.
