One word to describe the Falcons’ performance last night: heart. No matter the score against an extremely tough opponent, the girls volleyball team continued to fight until the last whistle of the game.

Last night, the Falcons hosted a district match-up against Bradenton Christian School. The girls went into warm-ups focused and ready for a battle, until adversity struck.

Star junior Averie Robinson suffered what seemed to be a bad knee injury in warm-ups and the hiccup kept her out of the game. The team knew that losing Averie would be a major blow, but that did not affect their fiery start.

The first set was a battle. The lead changed many times from the Panthers to the Falcons. At one point, the set was tied at 24-24. To win a set, a team needs 25 points, but they also need to win by two. The Falcons eventually lost the set 26-24 after several intense rallies.

In the second set, the Falcons lost 25-19 and in the third set they lost 25-17.

All in all, it was a great showing for the Falcons.  They showed that they play with heart, and there’s a strong future ahead.
