This year, the track team is under new leadership. The new head of the track and field program, Noah Osborn, brings five years of coaching experience. A former Bradenton Christian School athlete, Osborn competed in track before continuing at Samford University in the Triple Jump. He previously coached at BCS and Southeastern University while earning his Master’s in Kinesiology.

“My goals for the program include developing technically skilled athletes, preparing them for the next level, and fostering character growth,” Osborn said.

The coaching staff now includes Coach Kennedy (BCS alumnus, USF education degree), Coach Bobby (SSES graduate, track, football, and weightlifting coach), Coach Ashley (Charleston Southern 400m specialist, volleyball coach), Coach Kylee (Denison University throws competitor), and Coach Williford (20+ years coaching, high jump specialist).

Tryouts featured a two-day quadrathlon test, including a 30m sprint, hammer throw, and long jump. Practices typically begin with a structured warmup of dynamic drills, strides, and static stretching before athletes break into event-specific training groups.

Sophomore Jaida Milburn, now in her fifth year of track, is excited about the new coaching approach. She appreciates the specialized training structure that allows each athlete to follow an optimized workout plan.

“This year, I’ve been really happy that we have different coaches for each event group,” Milburn said. “So each runner can focus on what they want to run.”

With tailored workouts, athletes can maximize their effort and performance in competition. The next home meet is set for March 19.
