Boys Weightlifting was introduced to Saint Stephen’s athletics two years ago, and the program is already one of our most successful programs. This year, four lifters will head to the State Tournament in Lakeland on Friday to compete.
Seniors Jeremy Stroh, Mark Seklitov, Brady Winters, and junior Corbin Franklin will participate in their respective events.
“I’m really excited for the competition at states and all the people I’m going to meet there,” Winters said.
Each athlete will lift in a specific weight category. Franklin will compete in the 128-pound, Winters in the 154, Seklitov in the 199, and Stroh in the heaviest category, at 238. The four lifters will compete in events like the snatch, clean and jerk, and bench press.
“This season I’ve hit a 180 snatch, a 235 jerk, and a 195 bench in the 154 weight class,” Winters said.
Led by coaches Erik Schulz, Josh Conn, and Bobby Harrison the boys are ready to lift off.
