Isabel Sevilla

Isabel Sevilla, a senior here at Saint Stephen’s, is a mental health advocate, psychology enthusiast, and artist. It is in her creative and empathetic side to really get to know others and understand them on a deeper level. Sevilla says that she is “a very open person” and that one of her most likable traits is her ability to “get personal with people”. Such characteristics of hers are exhibited through her various summer adventures.

During her summer, Sevilla visited Yosemite National Park and disclosed that it “was the hardest hike [she] has ever done.” She said that she “got there at 9am and didn’t leave until 6pm,” but that it was all worth it for the beautiful view at the end. Even after her grueling hike and a surreal encounter with three bear cubs, (yes- three living, breathing bear cubs) she was able to appreciate the wonderful scenery. Spoken like a true artist.

Isabel also fueled her mental health oriented side by participating as a counselor in a paid internship with an organization called “Go Zen” which, according to her, “has a focus on anxiety and helping kids who have anxiety.” She collaborated with the organization to create informational videos for teens that outline the psychological and scientific aspect of anxiety, as well as body image issues, negative thinking, and relationships, in order to “try and help them solve those types of problems.” “It was a really fun experience,” she said, and for anyone who wants to know, all of these helpful videos have been posted to the TikTok account “TeenToks”.
